Centenario Hospital to receive medical equipment donated by the Japanese Embassy

The equipment is an anaesthesia machine and a colour Doppler ultrasound scanner, which will allow operations to be carried out on patients with more complex pathologies. The investment is close to U$S 140.000.

A donation contract for U$S 136,795 was signed at the Japanese Embassy in Argentina to equip the Hospital Provincial del Centenario.

The Embassy of Japan in Argentina gave the framework this Monday to the signature of a donation contract for U$S 136.795, for the provision of medical equipment that will be destined to the Provincial Hospital del Centenario, of Rosario. The meeting was held at the Embassy's headquarters in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, with the presence of Ambassador D. Yamauchi Hiroshi and the president of the Medical Sciences Foundation of Rosario "Prof. Dr. Rafael M. Pineda", Alberto Muniagurria, who signed the document.

"It is hoped that this cooperation will contribute to the strengthening and improvement of the medical service in the province of Santa Fe. Also, to the recognition of the Japanese community that has been established in the city of Rosario for a long time", said Ambassador Yamauchi, after the signing of the contract.

In turn, the president of the Foundation remarked that "when the forces are aligned in the same direction, they come together and have a good objective, wonderful achievements are reached, for that reason we thank all the people who participate in this project". Along these lines, he remarked that "the Foundation carries out activities to support the operation of the Hospital with its 53 specialities and the Teaching Hospital".

Also present at the ceremony were the secretary general of the Foundation, Hugo Tanno; and on behalf of the Hospital, the State representative to the Board, Mauricio Spilere; and the head of the Anaesthesiology Department, Eduardo Pérez. "We thank the Government of Japan for their collaboration because it will allow us to make a leap in equipment quality. We are the only public hospital that performs cardiac surgeries in the province of Santa Fe; and this donation will not only be useful for central cardiovascular surgeries, but also for highly complex patients," said the head of Anaesthesiology after the meeting.

Cooperation

The agreement comes within the framework of the Embassy's Non-Refundable Financial Assistance for Community Projects for Human Security (APC) programme, which is aimed at non-profit organisations such as NGOs, local government agencies, medical institutions, educational institutions, among others, to promote socio-economic development at the community level.

The Foundation and the Hospital Provincial del Centenario presented a project to the Japanese Embassy to improve the quality of anaesthesia, analgesia and resuscitation services. To this end, an anaesthesia machine was requested and a project for the acquisition of a colour Doppler ultrasound scanner was presented. The aim of this equipment is to improve the quality of patient care and reduce morbidity and mortality. At the same time, it will allow interventions to be carried out on patients with more complex pathologies and improve capacities for better care.

The Embassy emphasised that "after analysing the suitability of the work carried out by the Hospital Provincial del Centenario, as well as its needs in the semi-exclusive operating theatre sector, it was decided to cooperate through the Fundación Ciencias Médicas de Rosario, as signatory of the donation contract to provide medical equipment to the Hospital". They added that "the Government of Japan hopes that this cooperation will contribute to the strengthening and improvement of the medical service in the Province of Santa Fe and its surroundings, as well as continue to strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and Argentina".
