Governor Maximiliano Pullaro met this Tuesday with the president of the Nation, Javier Milei, a meeting in which he explained the need to invest in productive infrastructure, in the Waterway, and in addressing solutions to the debt that the national State maintains with the Santa Fe Retirement Fund, among others.
The meeting, which took place in Casa Rosada, was also attended by the governors of Corrientes, Gustavo Valdés; Chaco, Leandro Zdero; Jujuy, Carlos Sadir; and Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo.
After the meeting, Pullaro said that "we raised the need to invest in productive infrastructure, and we talked about the waterway". He pointed out that "for us it is essential to be on top of the waterway tender that the national government is carrying out, because our provinces are coastal provinces, and we understand that for a design of infrastructure development, it is not enough to talk about draught and beaconing".
In addition, the governor of Santa Fe said, "there was a lot of talk about gas, electricity and transport, railways, which are fundamental for us and for our productive sector".
In this sense, Pullaro indicated that those present agreed on the need to "work together so that Argentina can begin to have the investments it needs, after having balanced its accounts; and that this can be very good for each of our provinces".
Debt with the Retirement Fund
Pullaro went on to say that "we also raised the issue of the debt that the Nation has with the Santa Fe Retirement Fund. There is a Fiscal Pact by which the province ceded co-participation taxes to support Ansés and there is a commitment from the National State to compensate for this.
Unfortunately, for many years - not only in the government of Javier Milei but also in the government of Alberto Fernández - this was not fulfilled and today the Nation has a very important debt with Santa Fe". In this respect, he indicated that they agreed "to work together to resolve these problems. Santa Fe has a different situation to the other provinces, since the Nation is indebted to my province and there are many provinces that are indebted to the Nation. I believe there is a will to settle these debts," he stressed.
Balance and dialogue
Next, the governor of Santa Fe valued "the fiscal balance that Argentina is having and that we are having, particularly in these five provinces, with a very important effort. Much of this burden is being borne by the provinces, which have had to make very large adjustments.
"Despite many national cuts, in the province we have put our accounts in order, because Santa Fe had a deficit and a very significant floating debt and we achieved fiscal balance; now we intend to achieve the path of growth, and for that we hope that the national government will also work alongside us," Pullaro remarked.
Finally, the governor said that "Argentina needs all of us to be thinking about how we can move forward; and it needs a political leadership that, beyond its differences, can dialogue. We will always be in favour of dialogue, because for us it is very constructive", he concluded.
The meeting at the Casa Rosada was also attended by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei; the Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos and the Secretary of the Interior, Lisandro Catalán.
