Pullaro: "Strengthening the Litoral is to contribute to Argentina's progress"

"We deeply believe in a government and a federal state," said the governor of Santa Fe in Bella Vista, Corrientes, after signing a twinning agreement with his counterparts from Corrientes, Chaco, Entre Ríos, Formosa and Misiones.

The governor of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro, has signed a framework twinning agreement with his counterparts from Corrientes, Gustavo Valdés; Chaco, Leandro Zdero; Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerio; Formosa, Gildo Insfrán; and Misiones, Hugo Passalacqua, with the aim of advancing in the formation of the regional integration block "Litoral Region", and thus strengthening federal policies and multilateral relations between the provinces that make it up.

After the meeting, which took place in Corrientes, city of Bella Vista, Pullaro said: "it is an honour to be at this historic moment as governor of the invincible province of Santa Fe, which has a lot to do with what we are doing here today, because when Brigadier Estanislao López stamped that concept on the flag of my province, he was doing so in defense of the constitution of a Federal State, because he understood that we had common interests and issues.

"And today, 200 years later, we, the governors of these six provinces, are meeting to defend our people, to draw up an agenda that defends work, production, and fundamentally defends the future and federalism," said Pullaro.

The governor of Santa Fe then stated: "We deeply believe in a federal government and a federal state, which is why it is very important, in these times in our country, but also in the world, that the states can begin to find common issues to carry out common policies that allow us to develop, strengthen our productive system and infrastructure, think about caring for the environment; think about public policies that put us in another place".

"What we are doing right now is historic. If we work together, if we set important objectives, we will be able to defend and strengthen our region, the Litoral, but fundamentally, we will be able to contribute to the Republic of Argentina's progress", Pullaro concluded.

Defending and consolidating Federalism

Valdés went on to say: "The fact that we are here today confirms the unwavering will to move forward together towards common goals, because we see the need for the provinces to come together to form a common work area and to give a new impetus to Argentina, which needs to be transformed to be fairer to the citizens of the interior.

The aim of forming the Litoral Region is to "manage common interests, which are many," Valdés said, and stressed the need to "discuss a federal country, seriously. We cannot continue to live in a country that is politically Federal, and we have an increasing concentration of resources".

In turn, Frigerio valued the "marvelous political decision to form, in line with the mandate of the Constitution, the Litoral Region. We are the cradle of federalism in Argentina, that is why we must defend it, and be more united than ever, because we are going to feel a little less alone than we usually feel, having to take charge of practically all the public goods and services that our people receive alone. The formation of this region makes us stronger.

For his part, Zdero said that "we have come to ratify the Federal Argentina, because the homeland was made from the deep interior towards Buenos Aires, and the homeland is made every day from the interior of the country. This pact will be historic if we have the capacity to work together," concluded the Governor of Chaco.

Likewise, Passalacqua indicated that the purpose is "to consolidate federalism. It is difficult to understand what the interior of this country is, above all to understand a basic concept that the provinces are pre-existent to the Nation".

Finally, Insfrán supported what the governor of Santa Fe said regarding the history of the origins of the nation and affirmed: "From the Litoral we are going to make our voices heard" regardless of the political party background because "we are united in the fight for federalism".
