Pullaro led a conference on the impact of public policies

The Governor participated in the opening of the meeting held as part of the "gLocal Evaluation Week", which evaluates the performance of governments. He valued the importance of "planning, executing and measuring" the actions that are carried out.

Pullaro encouraged "to think about and plan the changes we need to make in Santa Fe and at every level of the state".

Governor Maximiliano Pullaro participated this Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the "gLocal Assessment Week", an international knowledge-sharing event to connect the global community with people from different sectors and regions. The activity includes a series of talks as part of the province's Strategic Agenda.

The event was held in the White Hall of Government House, in the provincial capital, and was attended by the Minister of Government and Public Innovation, Fabián Bastia, and the Minister of Government and Labour of the province of Entre Ríos, Manuel Troncoso, among other officials from different areas of the administration and other branches of government.

In his speech, Pullaro acknowledged that "it is important to value public policies", and that "sometimes the dynamics of state management does not allow us to sit down to evaluate or measure, and I think that the central issue when one is determined to transform the state is given in the planning and execution, and the measurement of whether one is fulfilling the different objectives that are imposed".

For this reason, the governor highlighted the holding of this conference, which serves "to highlight the value of what is called a public policy to transform the state". In this sense, Pullaro also encouraged "to think, to plan the changes we have to make in Santa Fe and at every level of the state. That is what is important. In each of the directorates, in each of the secretariats; let's take the time to plan, execute and measure public policies and their impact, fundamentally to be able to correct them. If we achieve this, we will have clearly fulfilled our objectives”.

Finally, the governor added, "Nothing here can be made at random; we have to know the timeline of each of the policies we execute, of each plan and each government programme. And we must comply to the letter with the deadlines that we impose on ourselves as a government".

Changes in the province

Bastia said, "It is very valuable for us to carry out this conference, to work and to begin to establish the issue", and admitted that "it would be very bold to talk about evaluating the results of the first six months of management, but we can say that from the first day we came to change and transform the province and to transform the way of managing and the way of carrying out the different actions in the different areas".

"All these changes go through difficult paths, because change means giving up certain behaviour and habits, giving up doing things in a certain way to go down a path that is often uncertain and unknown", said the official, and highlighted in this process of change "the great legislative support, which allowed us to change the rules that we are applying".

"We are convinced that this is the right path for the actions we are taking, which include an improvement in institutional quality, and a transformation in the functioning of the state to make it more agile, transparent and closer," concluded the minister.

The conference in Santa Fe

The event took place in the framework of "gLocal Evaluation Week". In this week, participants from all over the world come together to learn from each other about the experiences and challenges of monitoring and evaluating public action to achieve results and changes that contribute to the economic and social development of the territories.

The conference in Santa Fe included panel discussions focused on three areas: productive development, education and security, with the participation of productive, social and scientific organisations, universities, students, among others.

gLocal is convened and supported by the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), a network of organisations, organisations, and experts that supports countries in strengthening their monitoring and evaluation systems to help governments collect and use evidence to improve the lives of their citizens.
